A friend of one of Ron Radziner’s wanted to upgrade a few spaces in their home.
SCOPE: 1 Bedroom, 2 Bathrooms, and Laundry Room
BUDGET: $135,000
SQUARE FOOTAGE: 475 sq. ft.
CHALLENGES: The clients had their own contractor who they had worked with for years, this caused issues with decisions between the contractor and client being made on site without someone from our team present. The contractor was also just a two person team, this caused issues with them ordering tiles on time, making the construction process for the bathrooms get delayed, preventing us from seeing the rooms 100% complete.

The subcontractor who was doing all the new cabinetry in the laundry room built the wood portion of this window seat and our usual upholsterer did the cushions.
Marmol Radziner design is usually very minimal and streamlined and typically this type of drawing is done by the Architecture team but since this was a small project that Marmol Radziner Architecture was not involved with, I had the opportunity to design the profile for the cabinet door, something the Interiors team did not get to do very often.
WALL-TO-WALL CARPET INSTALL
The seam placement for the wall-to-wall carpet almost caused an issue because it was going to need to be placed exactly where the kick on the new window seat was going to land.
Thankfully, the casework hadn’t been started yet so we were able to decrease the kick depth by 1” so it was able to just cover the seam, allowing it to only be visible in the closet.

Unfortunately this is one of the items that the contractor didn’t finish until after we installed everything in our scope so we did not get to see this completed and in the space.
